The original papers, the critical review and the later animal leads.

Rabbit and human sleep studies

The 1977 rabbit characterization supplies the sequence and the finding that named DSIP. The 1981 human sleep experiment supplies the small clinical signal. Then Kovalzon and Strekalova’s 2006 review examines the much messier relationship between DSIP and sleep.

Read together, those papers make the distance between naming and treatment unusually clear. Their different questions explain a great deal of the disagreement.

Follow the other outcomes

The rat focal-stroke paper is especially useful alongside the DSIP-like KND study: the substances and outcomes differ. The fusion-peptide mouse paper adds another engineered candidate. For the tissue-identity question, the gut immunoreactivity study and carcinoid-cell study are more revealing than a simple list of tissues containing DSIP.
